Murless eases to second Big Easy victory

Mark Murless earned his second Big Easy tour win of the season at the King’s Cup in Swaziland after a solid two-under-par 70 in the final round.

“You know after the first victory at Huddle it just kind of motivates you and you get that belief back that you can win again. Coming into this week I felt good about my game, I finished well last week at the Wild Coast so I cane in with a bit of confidence which was nice,” explained Murless.

Overnight leader James Pennington – the number one amateur in Swaziland – stumbled to a two-over–par 74 to allow Murless to coast in from the outset.

“On this course the guys can get firing on the back nine, so that’s the thing you’ve got to be careful of. I was monitoring the scoreboard and just keeping an eye on what was going on. I played solid golf and didn’t make too many errors today. The game is there and it worked out well,” said Murless.

There weren’t any fireworks from Murless, however remaining cool under pressure proved to be just what was needed on the final day as the top contenders fell away from the challenge.

“I’ve got a game plan where I work three holes at a time and my goal is to make one birdie every three holes. I try to keep maintaining that idea of keeping that target going. It takes my mind off the rest of it and I think it helps,” he explained.

With two Big Easy victories in the bag, Murless now sits firmly top the Big Easy Order of Merit, and he hopes to carry his rich vein of form into the remaining Sunshine Tour events.

“I’m off to Sishen next week and I’m actually quite busy until the middle of November. So hopefully there’ll be a lot of good golf and we can pick up another win,” he said.
